ASUS ROG Phone 5, the phone for ‘gamers’ that could have more RAM than a computer
The hardware company ASUS announced in early March the next model of its smartphone for gamers: ASUS ROG Phone 5.
The premium version of the cell phone will have 18 GB of RAM.
As has happened with the launch of other phones, as happened with the iPhone 12 and the Samsung Galaxy S20, it comes with different versions, in this case three: the standard, Pro and Ultimate. This fourth-generation phone from the Republic of Gamers (ROG) line skipped the number 4 in its name because the Chinese pronunciation of 4 is similar to the word “death,” so it took number 5.
It would be the most powerful Android phone in history. It is equipped with the latest mobile processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, and its premium version would have 18 GB of RAM, more than some laptops or computers have. The standard version has 8GB of RAM, while the Pro model has 16GB.
Regarding internal storage, ASUS will include 512 GB of storage for both the ROG Phone 5 Pro and the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate, while the ROG Phone 5 will come with 128 GB of storage (although a version with 256 GB can also be purchased ).
The display is important for a dedicated gaming phone, and the ROG 5 uses a Samsung-built, 6.78-inch, Samsung-built AMOLED HDR10 + certified screen, the ROG 5, the most advanced glass. strong for devices so far. The panel also features a 300Hz touch sample rate and offers an ultra-low 24.3ms touch latency for fast touch response in games.
Another difference from its predecessor, the Phone 3, is the attention to sound. The Phone 5 has a powerful set of front speakers, plus the devices come with a headphone jack, a feature that is less and less present in high-end phones.
Another important factor for a cell phone dedicated to video games is the battery life. The ASUS ROG Phone 5 versions have two 3000 mAh batteries (6000 mAh total), with graphite foils to improve cooling, and have 65 W fast charging. The Pro and Ultimate versions come with a fan that can be attached to the back of the phone and absorb heat up to 10 ° C.
While ASUS concentrates on the gaming experience for its phones, the phones still include a triple rear camera offering 64 MP, a 13 MP sensor with 125 ° ultra-wide lens, and a 5 MP macro camera. The phone also includes a 24 MP front camera for selfies and facial recognition.
The last difference has to do with the rear, illuminated with RGB lights in the case of the standard model, while the more expensive models have PMOLED technology on the rear.
So far, ASUS have announced the prices of this line in euros:
ASUS ROG Phone 5: 799 euros (8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage), 899 euros (12 GB RAM and 256 GB) and 999 euros (16 GB RAM and 256 GB)
ASUS ROG Phone 5 Pro: 1,199 euros
ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate 1,399 euros
