Apple would have a more robust version of Apple Watch for extreme sports

This new version, known internally as ‘Explorer Edition’, could join the list of the company’s smart watches.

Apple is considering developing a version of its more robust smartwatch dedicated to users who do extreme sports, which could hit the market by the end of 2021 or next year.

Apple Watch appeared for the first time in 2015 and since then six editions have reached the market, a more affordable version (Watch SE) and various variants resulting from collaborations with brands such as Hermès or Nike.

A new version, known internally as ‘Explorer Edition’, could join the list of Apple smart watches. It would be a more robust equipment, designed for use in extreme sports activities or in environments and situations that require greater resistance to withstand impacts.

Currently in internal debate, plans for the development of this device have not been determined, but it could go on the market later this year or in 2022, as sources familiar with the matter informed Bloomberg.
